BizTalk Install : Duplicate CID

The last task I perform after installing BizTalk and before configuring BizTalk on a distributed environment is to check the status of MSDTC using DTCPing.  On this latest project the virtual machines for my BizTalk and SQL Server were built from the same VHD and contained duplicate CIDs.  To fix this simply re-install MSDTC.  Run a command prompt as administrator.  Then execute MSDTC -uninstall then MSDTC -install.  This will generate new CIDs.  For more information of duplicate CIDs see the section in the following document named “Ensure that MSDTC is assigned a unique CID value”.
