ESBT : Creating Itinerary Messaging Services

I’m working on a project at the moment porting custom orchestration itinerary services over to messaging itinerary services.  Why?  In a word performance.

Next create new class library and add references to the following,

  • Microsoft.BizTalk.Messaging.dll
  • Microsoft.BizTalk.Pipeline.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.ESB.Itinerary.dll

As seen below create a class that implements the IMessagingService interface.

Now go to the esb.config files and add,

<itineraryService id=”aaa94e43-91t2-4e10-n403-b3c999b0f55e” name=”SampleItineraryService” type=”CustomItineraryService.LogItineraryService, CustomItineraryService, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=33c3aa171563ac00″ scope=”Messaging” stage=”All”/>

An itinerary that interacts with the service will look something like the below fragment.
