Now named .NET Services its the bit of Azure that provides access control, worfklow, and a service bus running in the cloud.
- Access control in the cloud essentially enables the federation of identity. Basically claims created in one identity scope may be accepted by another. The access control component allows for the modification and transformation of that claim.
- Workflow built on Workflow Foundation to be run in the cloud. This is all about the orchestration of services.
- A service bus allows for the regististration of service endpoints for access by external parties. i.e. trading partner looks up my services registered with the service bus. Those services may live within my organisational boundary or on the cloud.
